In 2015, Prevent Pet Suffocation and Prevent A Vet founded National Pet Suffocation Awareness Week to bring awareness to these preventable deaths .. read their page.
I heard about this, years ago, when I was reading about how bad the shape of the small Yoplait containers were and how they were causing deaths.
After I read that article, I stopped buying small Yoplait yogurt and now tie all my bags in knots before trashing them.
I also cut-up all things with rings, like 6-pack rings, and tie knots in netted bags that oranges come in, et cetera. This saves your pet and any wildlife critter who wants to snack on your tasty trash.
POST SUGGESTIONS :
You can simply mention National Pet Suffocation Awareness Week and link to their webpage – https://www.preventivevet.com/dogs/pet-suffocation-awareness .. or, you can tell a personal story .. or, you can give a quick prevention tip like; pets can suffocate in 3-5 minutes, so leaving a snack bag on the table during a commercial break could be all it takes, and to simply switch from eating out of the bag, to pouring chips in a bowl keeps the furry babes safe .. link me to your post, would love to see what you do with this.
